Althea Gwendolyn (Kohler) Strickler passed on Saturday, November 2, 2024. She was the widow of Gene D. Strickler who passed away on December 21, 2013. Together they celebrated 65 years of marriage.

Born April 16, 1928, in Fairview Township, a daughter of the late Vesta Bowen Andrews and Harry W. Kohler, she was a 1946 graduate of New Cumberland High School. She was very active in sports and was voted the Most Athletic in her graduating class. She studied Accounting at York College of Pennsylvania and retired as an Accountant for Alpha Heat Treaters in Emigsville. Her community involvement included Volunteering for American Red Cross, a 25-year member of Starlight Chapter No. 508 Order of Eastern Star, and American Businesswomen’s Association for 20 years. Along with husband she served as President of Cotillion Club and was a member of the York County History Center. She was also a member of St. Paul United Methodist Church in Manchester.

The couple moved to South Carolina in 1995. She was very active in the Keowee Key Ladies Golf Association and served in many positions, including President in 2007. Because of Gene’s health issues, they returned to Pennsylvania in 2012.

Mrs. Strickler is survived by two daughters, Jayne Strickler Shepro and her husband Daniel, of York, and Nancy Strickler Berkheimer, and her husband George, of Fayetteville; four grandchildren, Michael Thomas, and his wife Julie, of York, Dr. Brian Thomas, and his wife Anne, of York, Nathan Erbe and his wife Cara, of Evergreen, Colorado, and Elizabeth Erbe, of York; three step-grandsons, Peter Shepro (deceased), and his wife Deborah, of Dover, Troy Shepro, of Columbia, and Eric Shepro, of York; three great grandchildren, Wesley Thomas, of Philadelphia, Samuel Thomas, of Millersville, and Livia Erbe, of Evergreen, Colorado; and step great grandchildren, Alex Shepro, of Philadelphia, Aiden Shepro, of State College, Claire Shepro, of Bucks County, and Lorelei Shepro and Hawke Shepro, of Columbia.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 11:00 AM Wednesday, November 20, 2024, at St. Paul United Methodist Church, 4360 Board Road, Manchester, with The Rev. Roger Mentzer and The Rev. Dr. Eddie D. D. Miller officiating. Visitation will be from 10:00-11:00 AM. Private burial of will be in Manchester Union Cemetery. William E. Little Funeral Homes, Inc., 60 South Main Street, Manchester, is in charge of arrangements.
