Annie Charlotte Coleman Obituary

On January 25, 2024, Annie Charlotte (Brown) Coleman gained her wings and entered into eternal rest after a long courageous battle with a long-term illness.

Charlotte was born on July 13, 1945, in Orange County Virginia. She was the daughter of the late James Brown Sr. and the late Mary “Peaches” (Paige) Brown.

Charlotte was the biological mother of four children. However, many people had the privilege of calling Charlotte “mom.” She cared deeply for her family and neighbors. She did this not out of obligation, but because of who she was. She was always the first to offer help. And she always ensured that every child who crossed her threshold was safe, healthy, and happy. Charlotte was known by many names: mom, sister, grandmom, Mom Charlotte, Sister, Annie just to name a few.

Charlotte was employed by Schmidt and Ault.  She was a hard-working and dedicated employee for over 25 years and remained active even after her retirement.  She was compassionate about serving others. She attended Bible Tabernacle Christian Center of York, Pa. where she was a Mother of the Church and served on the Senior Usher Board.

Charlotte also loved supporting veterans at White Rose VFW Post# 556. Anyone who crossed paths with her knew she was very easy going and had a sense of the humor. Some would say she was the life of the party. Charlotte also enjoyed listening to gospel music, R&B music, playing cards, bingo, and watching her favorite game -Family Feud. Charlotte’s love for God, gentle spirit, and caring for others, will always be remembered.

Charlotte leaves to cherish her loving memory, her son Michael S. Coleman, brother Robert Brown Sr. (and his wife Judy Brown), sisters Mary Carter-Brown, Martha Jones, (and her husband James Jones) York Pa; and Sarah Coleman, of Maimi Florida.

Charlotte’s legacy also includes her children Kim Miller (and her husband Newt), Simon Coleman, Shalana Coleman, Shawn Coleman, Lewellyn Coleman, Lawrence Webber, Tianna Coleman, Tony Generette and Lynn Riddley.

Godchildren Jodie Fields, Jamar Dorm, Lisa Claiborne, Lorenzo Brown, Pearl Nolden and Lovana Murray.

Charlotte was preceded in death by her sons Moses Coleman Jr., and Elmo Coleman; daughters, Jennifer Coleman, and O’Tonya Bethune; brothers James Brown, Daniel Brown, Thomas Brown, Harry Brown, Joe Brown, Ben Brown, Frank Brown; sisters Mary Brown, and Katie Starks; grandchildren Ashley Coleman and Moses Coleman III.; close friend Mr. Bill Generette and Mr. Mel Bethune.

Grandchildren, Michael Coleman Jr., Denzel Coleman, Justice King, Braxton Meckley, Corrine Coleman, Jocelyn Coleman, and Sharita Coleman; seven great-grandchildren, host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
