Arlene J. Rigney Obituary

Arlene was born in Baltimore, Maryland, on June 9, 1936. Her father was the late Elwood Physioc and her mother, the late Ruth Calder Clauser. She was married to the love of her life, Daniel Rigney, for 54 years until his death in 2010. Arlene is survived on her mother’s side by a half sister Linda Brechtelsbauer and her husband, Bob, and a half brother Danny Clauser and his wife, Marti, and by half siblings Diane Freeman and Gilman Physioc on her father’s side.

Arlene and Dan graduated from Moody Bible Institute in 1968, where they were called to Jewish missions. That calling took them to many distant places including Russia, Ukraine, Germany, Israel, New York City, and San Francisco. Every summer for more than 40 years they ministered at Camp Shoshana in Keeseville, New York, a place they dearly loved. Arlene was a talented photographer, artist, and avid collector. She enjoyed all kinds of music from Messianic Jewish worship songs to Pavarotti, and The Bill Gaither Trio to Willie Nelson. She loved birds, animals, and the beauty of nature. She and Dan were renown practical jokers, and she loved watching her favorite comedians Carol Burnett and Chandra Pierce. Arlene was also always up for watching an old movie from her extensive film library.

Arlene shared her later years with a host of friends including her Ariel Ministries family; Camp Shoshana family; Cindy Riley, Cambria Power, and her devoted team of home caregivers; and Maryland and Pennsylvania church families and friends too numerous to mention. She touched many lives in her 88 years and will be missed by all who knew and loved her. But she has now received the reward for her life of service and is in the presence of Jesus enjoying a reunion with her beloved Dan and all those she loved who were waiting to greet her in heaven.

All are welcome to join in a Celebration of Life service honoring Arlene at her church in Red Lion, Pennsylvania on Sunday, December 1st , at 2pm. A fellowship gathering with beverages and desserts will immediately follow the service. The address is 147 1st Ave., Red Lion , PA 17356. Parking is in the rear of the church off Summit Lane.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be sent to the Shoshanah Scholarship Fund: www.aril.org/shoshanah-scholarship-fund .
