Barbara R. Comitz Obituary

Barbara R. Comitz, age 88, of West Manchester Township, York, entered into the loving arms of our Lord on Wednesday, December 3, 2025, at 7:07 p.m. at UPMC Memorial. She was the devoted wife of the late Joseph C. Comitz.

Born on October 5, 1937, in Pine Grove Mills, Pennsylvania, Barbara was one of five children of the late Clarence O. and Ruth M. (Stine) Ripka. A woman of quiet strength and determination, she made local history as the first female West Manchester Township Supervisor and the first woman to serve on the West York Area School Board.

Barbara is survived by her four children and the large, loving family that grew from them. Her daughter, Tina L. Price, of York New Salem, is the mother of five sons: Jonathan Price and his wife, Agnieszka, and their children Daniel, Hannah, Eva, and Sophie, of Poland; Benjamin Price, of York, and Thais Price and their son, Caleb, of Virginia; Andrew Price and his wife, Kirsten, and their children, Owen and Emma, of Virginia; Joseph Price and his wife, Rina, of New York City; and Matthew Price and his wife, Evelyn, of York.

Her daughter, Terry L. Mathison and her husband, Jerome, of York, are the parents of three children: Tonya Will and her husband, Dustin, and their children Peyton, Lincoln, and Silas, of York; Brock Mathison and his wife, Nicole, and their four children Nathan, Gracie, Emma, and Laura, of York; and Kayla Vernet and her children Deklan, Dereaux, Kora, and Kezia of Maryland.

Her son, Joseph C Comitz and his wife, Jhessa, of Florida; his children Sydney Comitz-Bowers and her husband, Jobeth, and their children Amelia and William, of Maryland; and Spencer Comitz of Florida.

Her daughter, Brenda M. Senft, of York, is the mother of Clayton Hamme of York.

She was preceded in death by her son-in-law, Paul Senft.

Barbara cherished her family deeply, and nothing brought her more joy than seeing her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren grow.

She also found great happiness in the simple pleasures of life. She loved crossword puzzles, tending her flower gardens, watching the birds around her home, especially cardinals, and spending weekends at yard sales. She always found delight in small discoveries and the beauty around her.

The family would also like to thank Darlene, Joyce, and Bev for their dedication in caring for Barbara in her last years.
