Barbara J. Schriver

Barbara J. “Barb” Schriver, 91, passed away peacefully on Sunday, May 8, 2022 at Paramount Senior Living, Maytown, PA. Born and raised in York, PA, she was the daughter of the late Charles E. Boyer and Miriam C. (Alexander) Boyer. She was married to Charles R. Schriver for 40 years prior to his passing in February 1993.

Barb grew up in York and graduated from William Penn Senior High School – Class of 1948. She went on to study at Thompson’s Business School of York.

Barb worked for many years as a server at Avalong Dairy Bar & Restaurant in York and then later for many years in the accounts receivable and accounts payable office of McCrory Distribution Company in York, retiring in 1986.

During her retirement years, Barb enjoyed working annually at The York Fair entrance gates, periodically at special events held at the York Fair, and periodically at the election polling location in Loganville, PA.

Barb was a member of Aldersgate United Methodist Church in York where she enjoyed attending the early service on Sunday mornings and volunteering throughout the week to perform various administrative responsibilities at the church.

Among the things Barb enjoyed were flying the American flag, rainbows, clowns, walking with her husband every evening and then having a coffee and donut at Donut Delite in York, rooting for the Baltimore Orioles, and raising her children.

Surviving Barb are three children: Steven D. Schriver (husband of Maria L. Schriver) of Miami, FL; Connie S. Reed (wife of the late Daniel C. Reed) of Brunswick, GA; and Michael A. Schriver (Husband of Janelle M. Schriver) of Elizabethtown, PA. Barb is also survived by her loving grandchildren. One son, David C. Schriver, preceded her in death in 1979.

A graveside service will be held 2:00PM Wednesday, May 11, 2022 at Susquehanna Memorial Gardens, in York prior to interment. Workinger Semmel Funeral Homes and Cremation, 849 East Market Street, York, is in charge of arrangements.
