Barry L. Schaad

Barry L. Schaad, age 80, of Windsor Township, York, died at 10:55 AM Thursday, September 29, 2022, at his residence. He was the husband of Carolyn (Fix) Schaad.

Born September 9, 1942, in York, son of the late Russel C. Schaad and the late Carrie E. Schaad, and the late Treva (Grim) Luckenbaugh. He was a 1960 graduate of William Penn Senior High School, a US Army Veteran during the Vietnam War. Mr. Schaad was retired from the Pennsylvania Office of Unemployment Compensation. After retirement, worked for The York County Judicial Center as Tipstaff for 15 years. He was a member of Saint John Episcopal Church.

In addition to his wife of 51 years, Mr. Schaad is survived by a son, Ryan B. Schaad, and his wife Crystal, of York; a daughter, Deidre C. Potter, and her husband Kyle, of York; seven grandchildren, Lily Doss, Carson Doss, Zachary Schaad, Brantley Schaad, Micah Schaad, Riley Kitts, and Weston Potter; two brothers, Donald Schaad of Colorado and Ray Luckenbaugh of Florida; three sisters Beverly Strausbaugh of Spring Grove, Anita Reigart of York and Karen Silar of York; and a special niece Sharon Schaad of York. He was also preceded in death by two brothers, Henry C. Schaad and Russell A. Schaad; and twins that died at birth.

Funeral services are scheduled for 10:00 AM Thursday, October 6, 2022, at Saint John Episcopal Church, 140 North Beaver Street, York, with The Rev.’d Eric Hillegas officiating. Visitations will be 5-6:00 PM Wednesday at Kuhner Associates Funeral Directors, Inc., 863 South George Street, York, and 9-10:00 AM Thursday at the Church. Burial will be at Prospect Hill Cemetery, with military rites presented by the York County Veterans Honor Guard.
