Barry T. VanTassel, age 85, of West Manchester Township, York, died at 12:30 PM Tuesday, March 19, 2024, at his residence. He was the husband of the late Ann M. (Floyd) VanTassel.
Born December 4, 1938, in York, the son of the late Charles A. and Mae E. (Miller) VanTassel, he retired from Caterpillar as an engineer and served in the Army Air Corp during Vietnam. He was a member of Pleasureville Christian Church, was an avid bowler and enjoyed classic cars.
Mr. VanTassel is survived by three granddaughters, Jennifer A. Scott, Amy M. Zuver, and Katie L. Keeney; seven great grandchildren, Jackson, Carmen, Octava, Luella, Vivian, Owen, and Audrey. He was also preceded in death by a daughter, Melanie J. Zuver.
A graveside service is scheduled for 10:30 AM Tuesday, March 26, 2024, at Mount Zion Cemetery, 3101 Deininger Road, York, with Pastor Kent Vandervort officiating. Military honors will be presented by the York County Veterans Honor Guard.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Mr. Sandys Homeless Veteran's Center, 412 West King Street, York, PA 17401.
