Betty Neal (Reinecker) deBarbadillo, age 96, of York, died at 10:23 PM Saturday, October 19, 2024, at Rest Haven-York. She was the wife of the late John J. deBarbadillo.
Born January 8, 1928, in Wellsville, she was one of three children of the late Cornelius and Agnes (Weaver) Reinecker. A 1945 graduate of William Penn High School, she worked as an executive secretary at Farmers Fire Insurance Company and York YMCA. She was born to take care of friends and family and enjoyed cooking, gardening, and socializing with high school friends. She also enjoyed traveling the country with her husband and officiating at National YMCA swimming and diving events. She received the Conrad Carroll Award in 1999 in recognition and contribution as an official at YMCA Aquatic events. She was a member of Asbury United Methodist Church and former member of Saint John’s Episcopal Church.
Mrs. deBarbadillo is survived by a son, Gregory N. Fife, of York; a stepson, John J. “Jack” deBarbadillo, II (Marianne); two step granddaughters, Christine deBarbadillo (Michael Cecil), and Elena deBarbadillo (Bo Vejen); and four step great grandchildren. She also had a special relationship with Ken and Karen Painter and their daughters, Rachel and Olivia.
A visitation will be held from 5-7:00 PM Tuesday, October 29, 2024, at Kuhner Associates Funeral Directors, Inc., 863 South George Street, York. A graveside service will be held at 10:00 AM Wednesday at Susquehanna Memorial Gardens, with her Pastor, The Rev. Dr. J.P. Bohanan. officiating.
