Bonnie A. Hayes

Bonnie A. Hayes, age 79, of Spring Garden Township, York, died at 9:00 AM Monday, March 27, 2023, at her residence. She was the wife of Jeffrey L. Hayes.

Born January 5, 1944, in York, the daughter of the late Lester G. and Evelyn M. (Ness) Sharp, she retired from CNA Insurance and had previously been employed at Cole Steel and York Bank and Trust. She graduated from York Suburban in 1961 and was a member of Luther Memorial Evangelical Lutheran Church, United Steel Workers Retirees, and a life member of Victory Fire Company Ladies Auxiliary.

In addition to her husband of 52 years, Mrs. Hayes is survived by a daughter, Shannon L. Crist (Jesse), of York; three grandchildren, Griffin, Gretchen, and Makenna; two stepsons, Brian Hayes (Jill), of Arizona, and Gregory J. Hayes (Lisa), of Texas; seven step grandchildren, Douglas, Ann, Joseph, Mary, Peter, Benjamin, and Adam; and two brothers, Barry and Randy Sharp. She is also preceded in death by a step grandson, Aaron.

Funeral services are scheduled for 1:30 PM Monday, April 3, 2023, at The Semmel Chapel of Workinger Semmel Funeral Homes and Cremation, 849 East Market Street, York. Viewing will be from 12:30-1:30 PM. Burial will be in Susquehanna Memorial Gardens. The family requests that guests wear casual attire.
