Brenda Landis McLain, 69, of Dover Township, Dover, passed away peacefully at her home on July 28, 2026, surrounded by her family.

She was the wife of Daniel Timothy McLain, and they shared 13 years of marriage. Together they enjoyed traveling, especially cruising to new destinations.

Born on October 31, 1956, Brenda attended Northeastern High School and studied cosmetology at York County Vo-Tech. She owned and operated a beauty shop until a car accident changed her life. She worked for more than 20 years at York County Prison, retiring in 2021. She was known for her hard work, kindness, and dedication.

In retirement, Brenda enjoyed gardening, cooking, puzzles, traveling, decorating cakes, decorating ducks for cruises, and refinishing furniture. In her younger years, she placed first in the girl’s division of the York YMCA National Archery Association. She could do almost anything she set her mind to.

Brenda cherished her family and friends. She was preceded in death by her mother, Patsy Ann Ellwein. She is survived by her husband, Daniel Timothy McLain; her stepfather, Edward Eugene Ellwein; her son, Shawn Landis and his wife Stacie, of Marietta; her daughter, Sherry Rutledge and her husband Todd, of York; and her stepson, Daniel Patrick McLain and his wife, Dusty, of Pasadena, Maryland. She was a proud grandmother to Liberty Lucia and many step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren. She also leaves behind relatives and friends who will miss her dearly.

She will be remembered for her loving heart, strength, creativity, and devotion to those she loved. Her kindness and smile touched many lives, and her love will live on in those who knew her.

Funeral services are scheduled for 7:00 PM Thursday, August 20, 2026, at William E. Little Funeral Homes, Inc., 2150 Carlisle Road, York, with The Rev. Bonnie Whittier officiating. Visitation will be from 6:00-7:00 PM.

Though our hearts are broken, we take comfort in knowing she is no longer suffering. Brenda’s love and legacy will remain with us. She will be deeply missed, forever loved, and never forgotten.
