Bruce L. John, age 89, of Dover Township, Dover, died at 1:44 AM Friday, March 18, 2022, at his residence with his family by his side. He was the husband of Helen R. (Mitzel) John.
Born October 8, 1932, in Franklin County, a son of the late Paul and Carrie (Diffenderfer) John, he was a US Navy Veteran, serving on the USS New Jersey, during the Korean War. He also served four years in the Reserve. He was retired from American Chain and Cable as a welder, and was an avid hunter, enjoyed camping, working in his yard, and spending time with family.
In addition to his loving wife of 65 years, Mr. John is survived by two sons, Bryan K. John, of York, and Mark W. John, and his wife, Jill, of York; two daughters, Pamela R. Reitzel, of Lemoyne, and Tina M. Brubaker, and her husband Steve, of Hamburg; six grandchildren, Matthew, Holly, Shane, Heather, Lance, and Shyla; nine great grandchildren, Eric, Ethan, Addison, Asher, Livia, Evangeline, Dakota, Brice, and Gracie; a brother, Harold John; and two sisters, Anna Mae Mills, and Jean Lisse. He was also preceded in death by a sister; five brothers; a great grandson, Levi; and his son-in-law Jeffery Reitzel.
Funeral services are scheduled for 1:30 PM Friday, March 25, 2022 at William E. Little Funeral Homes, Inc., 60 South Main Street, Manchester, with his Pastor, William Schutt, officiating. Visitation will be 1-1:30 PM. Burial will be in Susquehanna Memorial Gardens with military rites presented by the York County Veterans Honor Guard.
