Carolyn Nace Obituary

Carolyn Ann (Frey) Nace, age 76, of York, died on Saturday, March 2, 2024. She was the beloved wife of Dennis O. Nace who died March 16, 2022.

Carolyn was born in York, PA on June 22, 1947, to the late Lester W. and Helen (Rhoderick) Frey. A 1965 graduate of York Suburban High School, she then graduated from Wagner College, Staten Island, New York. With a degree in nursing, she served in Washington D.C. before returning to York to work at the VNA, Rehab Hospital, and several nursing homes. She was a lifetime member of Christ Lutheran Church, a past Worthy Advisor, state officer and drill team member of the Rainbow for Girls, an over 50-year member and past Matron of York Chapter (now White Rose) Order of the Eastern Star, member of the York County History Center, and Out Door Country Club. Carolyn shared her husband’s love of sports, especially the Washington Redskins, and the love of music, playing the piano, organ, and violin.

Carolyn is survived by four stepdaughters, Robin Detweiler (Tom), of Red Lion, Brenda Schriver (Dan), of York, Barbara Witmer (Mark), of Pennington, New Jersey, and Linda Folk (Bob), of York, nine grandchildren and ten great grandchildren; two nieces and nephew, Korena Sue Mauston, Korena Kay Rosenberry, and David (Buzz) Tyson; her cousin, Bradley Rhoderick (Shannon), of Westminster, Maryland; and her cousin and goddaughter, Rae Ann Rhoderick Thrift (Justin), of Dumfries, Virginia. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, and sister, Sharon Frey Tyson.

Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 PM Friday, March 8, 2024, at Christ Lutheran Church, 29 South George Street, York, with The Rev. Dr. Alan J. Watt and The Rev. Beth Schlegel officiating. Viewing will be from 1:00-1:45 PM, with an Eastern Star service beginning at 1:45 PM. Burial will be in Mount Rose Cemetery.
