Carolyn I. “Connie” Kohler, age 98, of West Manchester Township, died at 3:16 PM Wednesday, August 7, 2024, at Country Meadows of York West. She was the wife of the late Dale F. Kohler.

Born March 13, 1926, in York, a daughter of the late Albert H. Kerr, Sr. and the late Lestie May (Becker) Kerr, she was a 1945 graduate of West York High School where she served as class president, was an Honor Society member, and played on the basketball team. She also won various awards for swimming. Prior to marriage, she modeled for Jack’s store in York, clerked at the Golden Rule store and worked as a stenographer in the office of the York County Controller.

She was a member of The Country Club of York, York Historical Society and Grace United Methodist Church (later Calvary United Methodist Church) where she served in various church capacities including tutoring for students from Alexander D. Goode Elementary School, 12th Night performer, and child and nursery care. She also volunteered, and was a co-chair, for York Hospital Book Nook.  She helped with the Sunshine Friend program at Pleasant Acres. While at Country Meadows, she received an Honored Volunteer Award. She enjoyed reading, walking and bike riding, family get togethers and meals, family activities, especially Kerr family reunions and luncheons. In her younger days, she enjoyed league bowling, and her favorite drink was a Manhattan.

In retirement, she and Dale spent their winters in Sarasota, Florida, and traveling to Hawaii, Mexico, the Holy Lands and the Caribbean Islands.

As a 14-year resident at Country Meadows of York West, she appreciated the care she received.

Mrs. Kohler is survived by three sons, Bradley I. Kohler, and his wife Ruth Ann, of Camp Hill, Jay A. Kohler, and his wife Debra, of York and Lynn M. Kohler, and his wife Lori, of York; eight grandchildren; fifteen great grandchildren; and four sisters, her identical twin, Marian, Joan, Alice, and Sue. She was also preceded in death by five brothers, Albert, Jr., Richard, William, Fred, and Gary; and two sisters, Treva and Janet.

Funeral services are scheduled for 10:00 AM Monday, August 12, 2024, at Calvary United Methodist Church, 11 North Richland Avenue, York, with The Rev. Tanya Brubaker officiating. Viewing will be from 9:00-10:00 AM. Burial will be in Susquehanna Memorial Gardens.
