Cecelia Jane Schmuck

Cecelia J. Schmuck, age 85, of Gettysburg, died at 5:38 PM Tuesday, May 5, 2026, at Gettysburg Center. She was the wife of the late Thomas M. Schmuck.

Born October 22, 1940, in York, she was the daughter of the late Arthur E. and Carlyn R. (Judy) Tate.  She was a homemaker, and in earlier years had worked at South Pine Nightwear and the Hotel Yorktowne.  She attended worship services at Grace and Hope Mission, Encounter Bible Church, and the Salvation Army.

Mrs. Schmuck is survived by three daughters, Judy A. Mercier, of Mifflin, Denise I. Stubbs, of Gettysburg, and Brenda F. Bortner of Windsor; two sons, Arthur B. Stubbs, of York, and Cletus E. “Buddy” Walters, of Strinestown; fifteen grandchildren; sixteen great grandchildren; and three great-great grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by six brothers, Franklin, Arthur, Charles, Robert, Ray, and Richard Tate.

Funeral Services are scheduled for 1:30 PM Wednesday, May 13, 2026, at Workinger Semmel Funeral Homes and Cremation, 849 East Market Street, York, with Pastor Gary Smith officiating. Visitation will be from 12:30-1:30 PM. Private burial will be in Mount Rose Cemetery.
