Charles Hoffacker Obituary

Charles A. Hoffacker, age 74, passed away Saturday, March 23, 2024, at Kingston Court Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

Born February 7, 1950, he was a son of the late Wilbur (Frank) and Erma (Geist) Hoffacker. Mr. Hoffacker was also preceded in death by his brother, Michael Hoffacker. He is survived by a son, Charles M. Hoffacker of York, Pennsylvania; a daughter, Carrie (Jake) Hagemann of Bradner, Ohio; two grandchildren, Zachary and Abigail; and one great-granddaughter, Chevelle.

Chuck, as he was known by friends and family, was an electrician by trade, spending his career working for Ka-Len Electric followed by Electrovations, Inc.  Chuck was also a Mr. Fix-It, both as a hobby and out of necessity, always tinkering with something. There were very few mechanical things Chuck couldn’t fix, from his daughter’s CD player to his son’s dryer, and of course anything car related.

Always valuing time spent outdoors, he spent his early days fishing with his dad and brother “at the Bay” and his later days passing that love of the outdoors to his children. Quick-witted, with a mischievous twinkle in his eye, he was forever an instigator, always having a great idea for someone else to try. He could be cantankerous, set in his ways, and grumpy, but he was also caring, giving, an animal lover, and did what he could to help people and animals. Many caregivers over the years told his family “Chuck has a special place in my heart.”

Chuck loved his family, anything MOPAR, animals, the Baltimore Orioles, and the Baltimore Colts, as well as the Lancers Drum and Bugle Corps, of which he was a member of the drum line in the late 1960s.

A graveside service is scheduled for 10:00 AM, Friday, April 12, 2024, at Susquehanna Memorial Gardens, where friends and family are encouraged to share their memories of Chuck. Refreshments after the service will be at his son’s home in York. Kuhner Associates Funeral Directors, Inc., 863 South George Street, York, is assisting with arrangements.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to an animal charity of your choice, the American Heart Association, PO Box 840692, Dallas, TX 75284-0692, or the family.
