Charles S. Kertell, age 86, of Conewago Township, York, died at 10:02 AM Wednesday, January 18, 2023, at his residence. He was the husband of Judy A. (Clark) Kertell.
Born September 14, 1936, in Akron, Ohio, a son of the late Stuart and Bernice (Lasch) Kertell, he was a retired truck driver from Consolidated Freight after 30 years of employment and was a member of West York VFW Post 8951 and Vigilant Social Club. He was also an Army veteran serving during peacetime.
In addition to his wife of 43 years, Mr. Kertell is survived by his two children, Charles K. Kertell, of Tonapah, Arizona, and Kim Drusky, of Akron, Ohio; a stepdaughter, Lori Smith, of York; four grandchildren, two great grandchildren; three step grandchildren; two step great grandchildren; a sister, Judy Gilroy, of Davenport, Florida; and a brother, Dennis Kertell, of Kahiawa, Hawaii. He was also preceded in death by a stepson, Harvey Smith.
Funeral services are scheduled for 1:30 PM Tuesday, January 24, 2023, at The Semmel Chapel of Workinger Semmel Funeral Homes and Cremation, 849 East Market Street, York, with The Reverend Bonnie Whittier officiating. Viewing will be from 12:30-1:30 PM. Burial will be in Mount Rose Cemetery with military rites presented by the York County Veterans Honor Guard.
