Connie Bauer Obituary

Connie Bauer, age 54, of Manchester, died early Sunday morning, January 15, 2023, at her residence. She was the wife of Dawn M. Safko.

Born September 16, 1968, in Lancaster, PA, she was a daughter of Beverly A. (Wild) Bauer, of Manchester, and the late Robert M. (Mike) Bauer.  She was currently employed by Optima Financial as a Senior Client Service Administrator.

She was a 1986 graduate of J.P. McCaskey high school. She attended Shippensburg University and graduated from Millersville University with a Bachelor’s degree in Education.  

She was a life member of the Girl Scouts of the USA for 47 years, starting out as a Brownie.  Connie serviced as day Camp Director, Assistant Day Camp Director, Service Unit Chair, Service Unit Cookie Chair and faithful leader of Scouts for over 25 years for multiple service units. Connie bled Girl Scout Green. Every day of her life she lived the Girl Scout Promise and Law.  Especially a Sister to every Girl Scout. No matter what age. Her favorite place in the world was Echo Trail Girl Scout Camp, where she spent 8 of her summers. She has inspired many girls over the years and at one time had the largest teen troop in Lancaster County.

Connie was involved in LGBTQ+ activist including a Silent Witness and working table for Vision of Hope MCC at PRIDE events, she attended Vision of Hope MCC and served on their Board of directors and in their Choir and many other ministries. Later she would follow her pastor and friend to New Light MCC, Hagerstown Maryland to continue the homeless ministry that Pastor Deb started in Lancaster. They met the needs of homeless in Lancaster for years before being called to service at New Light. Connie was also an active member of their Board of Directors. Connie’s was a life of Service to her community, church, and Girl Scouts.

In addition to her wife and mother, she is survived by a brother, Jack Bowser, and his spouse, Allysa Bowser, of Ephrata; two Aunts and several cousins. She was also the mother of fur babies, Sassy, Daisy, Mimi and Jenna.

Funeral services are scheduled for 11:00 AM Saturday, January 21, 2023, at Kuhner Associates Funeral Directors, Inc, 863 South George Street, with The Rev. Deb Coggin officiating.  Visitation will be 10-11:00 AM. Burial will be private.  Please come as you are, without colognes or perfumes or angora, due to severe allergies.
