Curtis Moul, Jr. Obituary

Curtis E. “Ed” Moul, Jr., of Alexandria, Virginia, passed away on Monday, January 23, 2023, at Casey House Hospice, Rockville, Maryland.  He was the husband of the late Priscilla A. (Wells) Moul, who he married in 1951.

Born April 15, 1932, in York, a son of the late Curtis E. and Lottie (Anderson) Moul, he was a 1950 graduate of William Penn High School, and then enlisted in the US Air Force.  He trained as a ground radio operator, and later as a technical channel coordinator.  He served in the Korean War, Okinawa, and Goose Bay, Labrador.  While serving in the Air Force attended college classes, and later earned his Bachelor’s Degree from the University of Maryland.

After Air Force retirement in 1962, he moved to Alexandria, Virginia, working as a civilian for the US Navy in Washington, DC.  He held various positions in the Bureau of Ships, and as an analyst for the Naval Sea System Command, coordinating and conducting shipyard inspections, and keeping things running for his superiors.  He retired from government work after 37 years, residing in Bethesda since the onset of the Pandemic.  He also worked at his wife’s antique shop, and enjoyed occasional flea markets in the 1980’s.

A true gentleman, friend, and proud Air Force Veteran, friends and family always looked forward to his wonderful detailed stories of his York childhood adventures, and Air Force and Navy experiences.

After retirement he was a volunteer at the local hospital consignment shop for more than 20 years.  He could recall every car he ever owned in detail and, even late in life, enjoyed this interest.

Mr. Moul is survived by his long time companion, Jane Heller, of Bethesda; two sisters, Karon Sallade, and Susan Meldrum (Sam); a brother, Michael Moul (Yolanda); and many nieces and nephews.  He was also preceded in death by a brother, Rolph; a niece, Suzanne; and brother-in-law, Carl Sallade.

Funeral services are scheduled for 10:00 AM Friday, January 27, 2023 at Kuhner Associates Funeral Directors, Inc., 863 South George Street, York, with The Rev. Dale Parker, Pastor of Aldersgate United Methodist Church, officiating.  Private burial will be in Salem Union Cemetery, Dover, with military rites presented by the York County Veterans Honor Guard.
