Dale F. “Sonny” Fry, Jr., age 82, of Lower Windsor Township, Windsor, died peacefully at 9:15 AM Tuesday, February 18, 2025, at his residence. He was the loving husband of Doris V. (Demmitt) Fry. 

Born January 25, 1943, in Wellsville, he was a son of the late Dale F. Fry and the late Mary (Zadravec) Vance.  He retired from Mac Steel in York, and its predecessor, Edgcomb Metals, where he was a truck driver and delivered steel. He was a life member of Hawk Gunning Club in York, and the Susquehanna Fish and Game in Wrightsville.  He was also an avid hunter and was an honorary lifetime member of the Deadwood Sportsman Club in Cameron County. When asked recently what he missed most his response was “hunting” with a smile on his face.  He also really enjoyed Penn State Football and the Orioles.

In addition to his wife of more than 60 years, Mr. Fry is survived by two daughters, Kristy D. Sapienza, and her husband Thomas, of Windsor, and Becky D. Slenker, of East Prospect; four grandchildren, Michael Fry, Thomas Fry, Franklin Slenker, and Gabriel Slenker; three great grandchildren, Michael Fry, Jr., Myla Fry, and Lilio Cienfuegos; a brother, Paul Fry, of Williamstown; and two sisters, Kathy Sue Utterback, of Red Lion, and Patricia Reed, of New Kensington. He was also preceded in death by a son, Gregory D. Fry; and a brother Jeffrey Fry. 

He will be remembered as a strong, genuine, honest, supportive, hard-working and caring man.  He was a Hon, Dad, Pap, Chub Chub, Brother and Friend.  He was always happy and his silly sense of humor will always be cherished.  How can we ever forget him pointing and asking a child “Is that your dog?” when there was nothing there to look at.  He lived a full life for which his family is thankful and along with his wife provided a stable home and upbringing for their children for which they will always be grateful.

Funeral services are scheduled for 11:00 AM Saturday, March 1, 2025, at Workinger Semmel Funeral Homes and Cremation, 849 East Market Street, York, with Pastor Terry Osborne, of Bible Baptist Church, officiating. Visitation will be from 10:00-11:00 AM. Burial will be private.
