David P. Apple Jr. age 50 of Dover, died at 11:50 AM Tuesday, April 4th, 2023, at his residence.
David was born December 8th, 1972, in York, Pennsylvania. He was the son of David P. Apple of Lebanon, Tennessee, and the late Victoria (Eshelby) Apple. David was retired from York Saw and Knife Company Inc. with more than 20 years of service. He was a member of Christ Lutheran Church of Manchester, Pennsylvania.
David is survived by three sons, Bryor A. Apple, of Dover, Dylan E. Apple of North Carolina, and Jacob I. Apple and grandson David; and a sister Christine of York.
David loved his family dearly and loved his work at York Saw and Knife. He was an avid outdoorsman and described himself humbly as a “cold metal blacksmith.” In truth David excelled at hunting, fishing, and metalcraft. David was always quick to smile and share his knowledge of the woods, a story, or a good joke with good friends. To have David as a friend was to know his incredibly wide range of knowledge which he shared without reserve. It was also to know his ironclad values and a deep and fierce loyalty that went well beyond words. David was a larger-than-life character who will be dearly missed by all who knew him. Every one of us has more than one tale our adventures with David. This is how he would like to be remembered: grinning, giggling, and just about to get into something.
A service to celebrate David’s life is scheduled for 4:00 pm Thursday, April 20th 2023, at Union Fire Company 201 York Street Manchester with his Pastor, The Reverend Beth Schlegel, STS, officiating. Arrangements are being handled by William E. Little Funeral Homes, Inc., 60 South Main Street, Manchester, PA.
In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Bryor Apple to assist with expenses during this difficult time.
