Donald Collins Alwine, age 91, of Shrewsbury, went to be with his Lord and Savior on January 3, 2026. He was the husband of Donna J. (Mitzel) Alwine for 68 years.
Born May 21, 1934, in Gettysburg, he was a son of the late Percy H. and Louise (Collins) Alwine. A 1952 graduate of Susquehannock High School, he was employed by Summers Canning Company, American Insulator, Shrewsbury Garage, Millersville University, and the US Postal Service from where he retired on December 31, 2005. He also served in the US Army from 1954-1957.
He was an avid Bible Reader, having read the Bible on the steps of the US Capitol in Washington, DC. As a member of Shrewsbury Gospel Temple, he traveled to Mexico and Haiti on several Missionary trips.
In addition to his wife, Mr. Alwine is survived by two sons, Daniel Alwine (Donna), and David Alwine; four grandchildren, Rachel Odegard (Jason), Joanna Horn (Clinton), Drew Alwine (Jordan), and Dylan Alwine (Jamie); and three great grandchildren, Parker Odegard, Bennett Odegard and Phebe Horn. He was also preceded in death by a daughter, Denise (Alwine) Kinard (George Kenneth); a brother, Earl Alwine (Sonya); and two sisters, Louise Winter (Curtis), and Linda Smith (Malcolm).
Services will be held in the Spring. Kuhner Associates Funeral Directors, Inc., 863 South George Street, York, is in charge of arrangements.
