Doris J. Ropp, age 97, of Manchester Township, York, died at 8:30 PM Tuesday, September 9, 2025, at her residence surrounded by her family. She was the wife of the late Alfred W. Ropp, Jr.

Born November 9, 1927, in York, she was the only child of the late Glenn M. and Viola J. (Rupp) Coover.  Mrs. Ropp graduated with honors from York Collegiate Institute in 1945 where she was awarded the Proficiency in Physics Award and the Bausch and Lomb Honorary Science Award. She earned her Bachelor’s Degree from Temple University during World War II, and worked as a Pharmacist until 1972. In 1950, Mrs. Ropp worked as the first woman Pharmacy Director of York Hospital. She was a member of Saint Andrews Episcopal Church, the women’s group of the Church, Shiloh Garden Club, Lamda Kappa Sigma professional pharmacy sorority, former board member of the American Heart Association, and former member of the Soroptimist Club of York.

Mrs. Ropp is survived by a daughter, Susan J. Heinle, and her husband Dennis, of York; seven grandchildren, Daniel Ropp, Amanda Ridley, Jennae Gill, Melissa Greg, Westley Heinle, Jeremy Heinle, and Philip Heinle; and nine great grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by a son, David G. Ropp.

Funeral services are scheduled for 11:00 AM Monday, September 15, 2025, at Kuhner Associates Funeral Directors, Inc., 863 South George Street, York, with her Pastor, The Rev’d. Grant Ambrose, officiating. Viewing will be from 10:00-11:00 AM. Burial will be in Prospect Hill Cemetery.
