Edith M. Hake, age 93, of West Manchester Township, York, died at 8:42 AM Wednesday, May 22, 2024, at Normandie Ridge. She was the wife of the late Oscar Hake, Jr.
Born February 7, 1931, in Conewago Township, a daughter of the late Clarence and Carrie (Gingrich) Bupp, she worked in retail sales for the Bon Ton and Wiest Department Stores. She was a member of Messiah United Methodist Church York, and Normandie Ridge Auxiliary.
Mrs. Hake is survived by a son, Brenton M. Hake, and his wife Sharon, of Lancaster; a daughter, Lavonne E. Shermyer, and her husband Mark, of York; two grandchildren, Emily Massie, and her husband Franklin, and Adam Hake, and his wife Allie; four great grandchildren, Frances, Hugo, Whit, and Pearl; a brother, Bruce Bupp, of York; and a sister, Theda Reed, of York. She was also preceded in death by two brothers, Clarence Bupp, Jr., and Merle Bupp; and five sisters, Gladys Beinhower, Alice Conley, Annabell Strock, Beatrice Householder, and Marian Mansberger.
Viewing and funeral service will be private, with burial in Paddletown Cemetery, Newberrytown. William E. Little Funeral Homes, Inc., 60 South Main Street, Manchester, is in charge of arrangements.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Normandie Ridge Benevolence Fund, 1700 Normandie Drive, York, PA 17408.
