Elaine Hoshall Franklin

Elaine Hoshall Franklin, of York Township, York, died at 5:43 AM Saturday, November 5, 2022, at age 90.  She was the wife of the late Melvin G. Shaffer, Jr., and the late Franklin H. Franklin, to whom she was married to for 37 years.

Born October 24, 1932 in Parkton, Maryland, she was the daughter of the late Louis and Lizzie (Almony) Hoshall.  She was retired after 25 years as personal assistant for the Pfaltzgraff Company.  She loved that job, and all the wonderful people there, especially Judene Miller.  She also worked for Bendix Corporation, York Borg Warner, and New York Life Insurance Company in Baltimore.  Dear to her heart were the Pftaltzgraff Retirees Group, as well as the get togethers with her 1949 Class of Sparks High School, Maryland. She was a member of Christ Lutheran Church of Spry.  She was baptized and confirmed in the Methodist Church, and was always a Methodist at heart, and was currently attending Pine Grove United Methodist Church.

Mrs. Franklin is survived by two daughters, Diane Zeigler, and her husband Donald, of York, and Cynthia Stoop, and her husband Jess, of Bath; a son, Stanley Shaffer, of Spring Grove; a stepson, Wayne Franklin, of York; a step daughter, Barbara Franklin, of Parma, Idaho; grandchildren, Donald and Karen Zeigler, Jesse and Megan Stoop, Christopher and Alyssa Stoop, and Thomas Zeigler; great grandchildren, Liam and Miles Zeigler, Olivia, Jackson and Benjamin Stoop; step grandchildren and step great grandchildren, Duane and Laura, Olivia, Mia and Lyla Franklin, Damon, Cherie, Austin and Brieanna Franklin, Alexa Franklin, and Bryan Green, Ryann and Layne Green.  She was also blessed with wonderful neighbors, especially Chris and Kara Koller and family, and many dear church friends, especially Mae Myers, and Karen McHenry, as well as her Almony and Hoshell Family.

Funeral services are scheduled for 10:00 AM Thursday, November 10, 2022 at Kuhner Associates Funeral Directors, Inc., 863 South George Street, York, with Pastor Jim Polanzke officiating.  Viewing will be 9-10:00 AM.  Burial will be in Mount Rose Cemetery.
