Elaine Aulen Myers, age 74, of York Township, York, died at 12:59 PM Sunday, January 22, 2023 at Rest Haven-York. She was the wife of Jack E. Myers.
Born September 29, 1948, in Wilmington, Delaware, she was a daughter of the late Walter and Adelaide (Mitchell) Aulen. She was a 1966 graduate of Woodstown High School in New Jersey and she earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education from Elizabethtown College and her Master’s Degree from Western Maryland College. She was retired from Red Lion Area School District, where she taught 1st and 3rd Grades at Locust Grove and North Hopewell-Winterstown. She also taught grade 2/3 at Yea Primary School, in Yea, Victoria, Australia for a year in 1984. She was a member of the National Education Association, Pennsylvania State Education Association, and Red Lion Area Education Association.
She enjoyed spending every moment she could with her family at sporting events, chorus concerts, musicals, cheer competitions, and while shopping, vacationing and sharing meals. She loved Walt Disney World, and the beaches of New Jersey. She looked forward to her weeks at the mountains of Potter County with her husband and family after each school year. She loved kids, and she loved being a Grammy the most.
In addition to her husband of 52 years, Mrs. Myers is survived by a daughter, Jena M. Sharp (Scott Henry), of Dallastown; a son, Jonathan D. Myers (Sherry), of Spring Grove; four grandchildren, Mady and Riley Sharp, and Jason and Julia Myers; and two brothers, George Aulen, of New York, and Robert Aulen, of York, as well as many nieces and nephews. She was also preceded in death by two sisters, Rita Lynch, and Dorothy Hummel; and a brother, Walter Aulen.
Funeral services are scheduled for 1:00 PM Saturday, January 28, 2023, at York First Church of the Brethren, 2710 Kingston Road, York, with The Rev. Joel Gibbel officiating. Visitation will be 11:00 AM-1:00 PM. Burial will be private. Kuhner Associates Funeral Directors, Inc., 863 South George Street, York, is in charge of arrangements.
