Devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, Betty, 84, passed away of natural causes on January 23. She led a life of faith until the end and now resides in her heavenly home. She will be greatly missed.
Born in Palmerton, Pennsylvania, she was the second of three children of Henry and Myrtle (Wagner) Williams. She and her family were raised in the picturesque town of Palmerton, PA, where her family spent many happy hours together at the community pool. Her family-centered upbringing instilled a strong sense of faith, service, and work ethic.
She graduated from Palmerton High in 1956. This is also where she met her sweetheart, Steve, who he married shortly after high school. They remained partners in life for the next 64 years. Betty and Steve were the center of family gatherings until his passing less than a year ago.
After high school, Betty remained a hard worker in a variety of roles in the service and retail industries. She sometimes worked several jobs and finally retired in 2020 from clerical role at Rite Aid in Etters at the age of 81, where she had become well known in the community.
Her attention to detail was always evident in her work and home. Foremost, she took the most pride in her family and household. Her proudest achievements were as a loving wife, mother, friend, and Christian. She was an active member of Stillmeadow Church of the Nazarene.
Betty had long been an avid sports fan, and she always made it readily apparent for which team she was, or was not, rooting. Her favorite teams included Penn State Nittany Lion teams, the Philadelphia Phillies and Eagles, Duke Blue Devil Basketball, and all the teams that children and grandchildren played on.
Betty is survived by her daughter Jan Turko, daughter and son-in-law Denise and Jon Mehl, son and daughter-in-law Greg and Susanna (Stewart), daughter and son-in-law Suzanne and John Wagner; brother and sister-in-law Dave and Marsha Williams, step sister Janie Donchez; along with 9 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Steve; mother and father; and brother, Fritz.
A closed service will be held by family.
