Elizabeth M. Fontan Obituary

Elizabeth Marie Fontan, age 39, passed away on June 27, 2024, at her residence.

She leaves behind to cherish her memory, her mother, Kathy Fontan Gardner and stepfather, Donald Gardner. Elizabeth was preceded in death by her father, Candido Fontan Nieves. She also leaves behind four brothers, Candido Fontan Deckman, of New Cumberland, Jeremiah Fontan and Isaiah Fontan, of York, and Christopher Leonard, of Red Lion; her niece, Braelynn of Grantville; grandmother, Gladys (Mammy) Harlacher, of York; a companion, Jeffrey Updegrove, of York; and many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends, from York, Morovis, Puerto Rico, Rochester, New York, and New York City.

She was a 2003 graduate of William Penn Senior High School and a 2007 graduate of York College. Elizabeth worked for SUNY Maritime in Bronx, New York and Sarah Lawerence College in Bronxville, New York.

A memorial luncheon will be held on Saturday, August 31, 2024, from 11:00 AM to 3:00 PM at 243 West Market Street York, PA, 17401. Elizabeth will be laid to rest in Susquehanna Memorial Gardens at a private ceremony. Workinger Semmel Funeral Homes and Cremation, 849 East Market Street, York, are assisting with arrangements.
