Frances Greiman Obituary

Frances (Teran/Reisz) Greiman, age 95, of York, died at 5:50 AM Tuesday, October 22, 2024, at SpiriTrust Lutheran The Village at Sprenkle Drive.  She was the wife of the late Rev. Ralph A. Greiman, Jr.

Born September 18, 1929, in Baltimore, Mrs. Greiman is preceded in death by her birth parents, Jesse Fernandez Teran and Anne Rehder Teran; her parents by adoption, Rev. Dr. Howard Frederick Reisz and Kathryn Gwynn Reisz; a brother, Thomas Herman Teran; a sister, Gwynne Evans and brother-in-law John Evans; sister-in-law May Reisz; and a niece, Heather Reisz.

Mrs. Greiman was a 1946 graduate of Western High School in Baltimore, and a 1948 graduate of Marion Junior College in Marion, Virginia.  She earned her B.A. degree from Gettysburg College in 1950, and her M.Ed. from Shippensburg University in 1977.  As a pastor’s wife, she was active in the life of the congregations of St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Dillsburg, PA and Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Franklintown, PA.  After moving to the Village at Sprenkle Drive, she became an active member of Zion Lutheran Church, York, PA.

Mrs. Greiman organized and taught the first kindergarten classes in the Dillsburg area, located first in the parsonage and then at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church.  She joined the faculty of the Northern York County schools, and taught the newly introduced kindergarten program, followed by first grade, and then special education students in grades one through four.  After retiring from public school teaching, Mrs. Greiman was on the staff of Penn State University, Middletown Campus, and Messiah University in Grantham, PA, as an adjunct professor of student teaching.  Community activities in Dillsburg included the Women’s Club and Dillsburg Public Library.

In 2001, she and her husband relocated to the Village of Sprenkle Drive in York, PA.  They continued to enjoy their favorite pastimes of visits and vacations with family, and traveling.  They became members of Zion Lutheran Church in York, PA.

Mrs. Greiman is survived by her son, Dr. Jeffrey S. Greiman, and his wife Selesta Jane, of Vienna, Austria; a daughter, Loretta (Lore) Constantine, and her husband John, of Cherry Hill, N.J., a grandson, Christopher Scott Greiman, and his wife Deborah Moss of Idaho Springs; two brothers, Dr. H. Frederick Reisz, Jr. of Bluffton, S.C., Melvin D. Reisz, and his wife Elisabeth, of New Market, N.H.;  a nephew, Brian Moul and his wife Anne, of York, PA; a niece, Sara Sargent and her daughters, Holly and Clara of Portsmouth, N.H. and a niece Katherine Reisz-Hanson, her husband Christian, and their children, Benjamin and Isabel; plus several cousins and their families.

Funeral services are scheduled for 1:30 PM Wednesday, October 30, 2024, at Zion Lutheran Church, 2215 Brandywine Lane, York, with her Pastor, The Rev. Kevin Stout, officiating.  Viewing will be 12:30-1:30 PM.  Burial will be in Mount Rose Cemetery.  Kuhner Associates Funeral Directors, Inc., 863 South George Street, York, is in charge of arrangements.
