Glenn George Morningstar, Jr., 66, passed away on Tuesday, October 6, 2020
at his residence.
Born August 11, 1954 in York, he was a son of the late Glenn G., Sr., and Dorothy (Leight) Morningstar. He is survived by his wife, Tamara L. Morningstar; and daughters, Melissa Hyder, and her husband Justin, Jenica Morningstar, and Sarah Morningstar, and her husband Jon. He is also survived by his long time companion, Pat Flavell; and her children, Corrie Hunt, Yolanda Abreu, Andres Abreu, and Anthony Abreu.
Glenn leaves behind nine siblings, William L., John, William G., David, MaryAnn, Diana, Lori, Steve, and Glenn III; a grandson, Tezoc; three granddaughters, Tirza, Tiara, and Keira; two great grandsons, John Dale and Eddie; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
After leaving high school, Glenn enlisted in the US Navy and completed his basic training at Great Lakes RTC, Illinois. He studied and trained as a boiler technician on board the USS Nimitz CVN-68 during a Mediterranean cruise. Later, he changed rates to Yeoman after deciding that he’d rather be in the known than in the dark. Changing rates also provided opportunities to experience different sides of Navy life.
He transferred to VP-68, a unit of P-3 sub detector planes at Patuxent River NATC, Maryland. He served on board the USS Edson DD-946 in Newport, Rhode Island, then he became the active duty support staff for the Naval Reserve Center, Philadelphia; NRC Huntington, West Virginia (a Seabee Unit); and NRC Washington D.C. from where he retired with honors. Before fully retiring he worked for several local businesses including Turkey Hill Dairy Farm, Key Plastics, Property Management for Coventry, KRB Machinery, and CTE, Inc.
Throughout his life he had enjoyed restoring antique gas engines and displaying them at hometown area steam engine shows, motorcycle riding, camping, video games and playing Monopoly.
A Celebration of Life is scheduled for 11:30 AM Saturday, November 14, 2020 at Water’s Edge United Methodist Church Social Hall, 467 Ables Raod, Wrightsville, PA 17368.
