Gloria J. Heard, age 93, of Springettsbury Township, York, died at 12:50 AM Friday, April 18, 2025, at Pleasant Acres Nursing and Rehabilitation.

Born September 20, 1931, in Hagerstown, Maryland, she was one of ten children to the late Elmer L. Hurd, Sr. and the late Gladys P. (Weyant) Hurd.  She earned her Bachelor’s Degree from West Virginia University and worked primarily as a medical photographer for various hospitals and medical centers across the country including York Hospital. She also served in the Women’s Army Corp. and United States Army Reserves. In her free time, she enjoyed painting, sculpture, traveling, camping, and gardening.

Ms. Heard siblings were Elmer L. Hurd, Jr, Jesse J.R. Hurd, Sr., Roger G. Hurd, Sr., Sandra L. Miller, Nellie R. Sodergren, Jenny L. Smith, Kitty D. Kline, Sharon B. Dibert, and Dinah K. Palladino.

A memorial service is scheduled for 3:00 PM Wednesday, May 7, 2025, at Kuhner Associates Funeral Directors, Inc., 863 South George Street, York, with The Rev. Christin Green and The Rev. Kate Bortner officiating.
