Ina N. Hengst Obituary

On Sunday, August 24, 2025, Ina went home to be with her loving husband and beautiful daughter who went home to be with the Lord within three months of each other in 2007 (August 18 and November 13).

Ina was born on March 5, 1932, the third of twelve children to the late Lloyd W. and Nellye (Hilker) Sprenkle. She was the wife of the late Lester P. Hengst who passed in 2007 and the mother of the late Barbara Saylor who passed on August 18, 2007. In her younger years she worked in the silk mills Keystone and Tioga. She always remembered everyone’s birthdays and special days and holidays. She loved to bake pumpkin pie and cook corn soup for Labor Day. Ina was a member of Faith United Church of Christ.

She is survived by a granddaughter, Amanda Saylor; a great grandson, Desmond Mumma; two sisters, Jo Ann Hubert and Sharon Generette Leonard; and a brother, Sidney Sprenkle, and his wife Cheryl. She was preceded in death by three brothers, Lloyd Sprenkle, Denton Sprenkle, and Dean Sprenkle; and five sisters, Jackie Richter, Shirley Leonard, Carolyn Hoskins, Faye “Peggy” Heath, Connie Sprenkle. She has many special nieces and nephews who did so much for her especially Vicki, her left hand, and couple of special cousins.

Funeral services are scheduled for 1:30 PM Friday, August 29, 2025, at Kuhner Associates Funeral Directors, Inc., 863 South George Street, York, with her Pastor, The Rev. Tom Kiepert, officiating. Viewing will be from 12:30-1:30 PM. Burial will be in Susquehanna Memorial Gardens.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Faith United Church of Christ, 509 Pacific Avenue, York, PA 17404.
