Inga Collinson Obituary

Inga Britta Collinson, age 101, of York Township, York, died at 1:25 PM Wednesday March 8, 2023, at Amorosa Wellness in York.  

Born in Sweden on February 11, 1922, to Carl Gustav Carlson and Elsa Bengtson Carlson.  After moving to the United States in 1923, her family settled in West Orange, New Jersey, where she attended the public schools.  She was a proud graduate of West Orange High School. She married George Earl Collinson, Sr. in 1942.  They resided in West Orange until they retired to Toms River, New Jersey, in 1980.  In 2020 she moved to York, Pennsylvania.

She was employed by the former Midlantic Bank as an Assistant Supervisor in the Transit Department.

While in Toms River she was very active in Silver Ridge Park West Retirement Community. She was a member of the Garden Club, Singles Club and Women’s Club, to name just a few activities. 

She was predeceased by her husband in 1992 and three siblings and their spouses: Greta (Harold) Tinquist, Einar (Janet) Carlson and Earl Chester (Ruth) Carlson.

She leaves her devoted family - son and his wife, George Collinson, Jr. (Mary) Newark, Delaware; daughter and her husband, Donna Fulton (Fred) of York, Pennsylvania; a granddaughter and her husband, Jessica Macready (Brandon) and one great granddaughter, Quinn Macready, all of York, Pennsylvania.

In addition, she leaves several loving nieces and nephews and their families. Inga was the matriarch of the family whom everyone loved deeply.

On February 3, 1943, she became a Gold Star Daughter when her father died on the SS Dorchester in WWII.
