J. Ronald (Ron) Mumma, age 91, of York, died at 9:45 PM Monday, February 16, 2026, at Messiah Lifeways in Mechanicsburg. He was the devoted and loving husband of sixty-six years of Donna J. (Bovey) Mumma.
Born November 28, 1934, in Kinderhook, Lancaster County, he was the only child of the late Jonas and Carolyn (Smith) Mumma. He retired as the Manager of Parts and Inventory Control for Caterpillar, Inc. Always an enthusiastic sportsman, he was a member of the Industrial League golf team and a CAT bowling team. Ron was an avid golfer and a long-time member at Grandview Golf Course, where he accomplished several holes-in-one. He was a 1952 graduate of Columbia High School. He served in the US Army as a Specialist 4 during the Vietnam War. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church of York, serving as a greeter and usher. Ron was also a mason of the 32nd degree (double eagle) of the Columbia Lodge.
Ron was a life-long piano player--in his youth he formed a band and played for several gala events later in life. He played music by ear and was honored to share his God-given gift with all. Those who enjoyed his performances were genuinely enchanted by his skill and repertoire. In his leisure time, Ron also loved to travel with his wife and his family. He was fortunate to visit many countries and a number of U.S. states.
In addition to his wife, Ron is survived by a daughter, Sharon L. Conaway, and her husband, Lynn, of Huntingdon; two grandchildren, Brittany L. Hale, and her husband C. Heath of South Carolina, and R. Brandon Conaway, and his wife Heidi of West Virginia; and two great grandchildren, Arya L. Hale, and C. Zade Hale.
