Jack L. Crone, loving husband, father and grandfather, passed away at age 92 on November 14, 2021.
Jack was born January 18, 1929 in Dover PA, the youngest child of the late William H. & Beulah M. Crone.
He married Maxine Wampler on June 20, 1946, in Maryland. Jack and Maxine owned and operated J.L. Crone’s Grocery Store in Dover until 1975. Jack was a hard worker, sometimes working 2-3 jobs at a time. In the 70’s, Jack’s sales for O’s Gold Seed Co. led him to be their distributor for PA. Jack worked as a truck driver for various companies, retiring from Consolidated Freightways in 1990.
Jack enjoyed many years of family vacations at the shore, hunting, and traveling. He loved to tell stories about his experiences as a truck driver and about his childhood. Jack enjoyed telling jokes and making his grandchildren laugh. He had a twinkle in his eye and a mischievous smile for everyone and always had a good appetite!
Jack was preceded in death by his parents, his sister Fairy, his brothers Richard, John, and Horace, and his infant daughter Jacqueline.
He will be dearly missed by his family which include his wife of 75 years, Maxine; a son, Carl Crone and his wife Candy of Wellsville PA; a daughter, Carla Schrum and her husband Ken of Dover PA; granddaughters Jackie Noerpel and Sara Simon; grandsons Greg Crone, Adam Schrum and Ryan Schrum-Herrera; 12 great grandchildren, Alex, Sam, Matt, Luke, Jordan, Preston, Kellan, Lawson, Nina, Quinn, Brooks and Joaquin and 2 great great grandchildren, Sophia and Gianna.
The service for Jack will be private, with Pastor Ron Oelrich officiating. Burial will be in Dover Salem Union Cemetery. William E. Little Funeral Homes Inc., 2150 Carlisle Road, York , is responsible for arrangements.
