James C. Long, age 67, of Wrightsville, Hellam Township, died peacefully at home on Friday, December 19, 2025, surrounded by his family. He was beloved by many, including his wife of more than 40 years, Susan (Kraft) Long.
Born May 20, 1958, in York, he was the son of the late John H. and Gladys M. (Wagner) Long. He was an exceptional father and husband and a retired VP of Operations & Data Architecture. He enjoyed fishing, building, music, sailing, and a wide range of creative pursuits. Quick with a joke and always the first to put music on in a room, Jim had an uncanny ability to connect with anyone he met.
In addition to his wife, Mr. Long is survived by two sons, Bryon T. Long and his spouse, Katherine, of Dobbs Ferry, New York, and Eric C. Long and his fiancée, Hannah Spero, of Valley Ford, California; two grandsons, John and James Long; a brother, John H. Long; and a sister, Nancy J. Long.
A Celebration of Life is scheduled for Sunday, January 11, 2026, in the River Room at John Wright Restaurant, 234 North Front Street, Wrightsville. Drop-in hours from 12 – 4 pm. Private burial will be in Prospect Hill Cemetery. Kuhner Associates Funeral Directors, Inc., 863 South George Street, York, is assisting with arrangements.
The family extends a special thank you to the incredible caregivers that made it possible for Jim to remain at home throughout his battle with Early Onset Alzheimer’s.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice and Community Care, whose staff were nurturing and compassionate throughout his final months; Susquehanna River Keepers, 338 South Front Street, Wrightsville, PA 17368; or The Blues Foundation, 421 South Main Street, Memphis, TN 38103-4464.
