Janet M. Berkheimer Obituary

Janet M. Berkheimer, age 96, of York, died at 12:30 AM Saturday, August 24, 2024, at Rest Haven York. She was the wife of the late Curvin A. Berkheimer, Jr.

Born February 17, 1928, in York, she was one of twelve children of the late Harry Alvin and Minnie Agnes (Sipe) Shermeyer.  She was a graduate of William Penn High School and retired in 1988 Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church where she worked as the secretary.  She was a member of Saint Paul’s Lutheran Church, Sun Shiners Senior Group, Women of the ELCA, and Christian Women of York.

Mrs. Berkheimer is survived by a daughter, Gaye L. Stover, and her husband Tom, of Jacobus; two sons, Michael A. Berkheimer, and his wife Barbara, of Middletown, Delaware, and Scott W. Berkheimer, of Marietta; five grandchildren, Christopher, Mallory, Gavin, Eric, and Jason; two great grandchildren, Priscilla and Everett; a sister, Loretta Bailey, of Dunnellon, Florida; and a brother, Harry Shermeyer, Jr., of Dover. She was also preceded in death by a son, Thomas A. Berkheimer.

Funeral services are scheduled for 10:00 AM Thursday, August 29, 2024, at Saint Paul’s Lutheran Church, 25 West Springettsbury Avenue, York, with her Pastor, The Rev. Stanley Reep, officiating. Viewing will be from 9:00-10:00 AM. Burial will be in Prospect Hill Cemetery.
