Janet McCarthy

Janet McCarthy, age 87, of Spring Garden Township, York, died at 2:33 PM
Tuesday, February 9, 2021 at her residence. She was the wife of the late
LeRoy E. “Mac” McCarthy who she married on April 12, 1952.

Born April 29, 1933 in York, she was a daughter of the late George H. and
Catherine R. (Hykes) Mundis. She was a graduate of North York High School
and Millersville State Teachers College, where she earned her Master’s
Degree in Elementary Education. She was retired from Central York School
District, where she taught Fifth Grade.

She was a member of Saint Peters Lutheran Church, White Rose Bridge Club,
and the Longboat Key Club in Longboat Key, Florida. She was also a long
time member of County Club of York, where she was the first woman to serve
on the Board of Governors.

Mrs. McCarthy is survived by two sons, Michael G. McCarthy, and his wife,
Ann, of York, and David B. McCarthy, and his partner, John Kolody, of
Whitestone, New York; and a sister Ruth J. McClelland, of Silver Spring,
Maryland.

Funeral services will be private. Kuhner Associates Funeral Directors, Inc.,
863 South George Street, York, is in charge of arrangements.
