Janice L. “Jan” Plymire, 79, passed peacefully, Sunday, September 3, 2023, surrounded by her loving family.
Jan was born September 11, 1943, in York and was the daughter of the late Louise (Smith) Lindemuth and Bruce M. Lindemuth. She graduated from Germantown Nursing School in 1964 and was a proud, compassionate nurse who worked in the NICU at York Hospital, Brockie Internal Medicine and as a private duty nurse. For many years, you could find Jan working behind one of Lola’s Luscious Lemonade stands at the York Fair serving up the best fresh squeezed lemonade and ice cream waffle sandwiches you could find at the fair!
She was a member of Advent Lutheran Church and previously a Member of Calvary United Methodist church where she volunteered her time to deliver Meals on Wheels and assisted the treasurer with counting tithes and offerings.
She enjoyed traveling, from annual family beach trips to Rehoboth as well as Aruba with her loving husband to a Safari in Africa; planting in her garden, spending time with her family and friends, enjoying the sounds of her pond every day from her beloved back porch.
Jan will be remembered for being the matriarch of her family, the glue that kept us all together and endeared as 'Boppy' by her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She is survived by William "Bill" L. Plymire, her husband of 59 years. In addition to her husband Bill, she is survived by her son, Mark L. Plymire, and his wife Leah K. (Weaver) Plymire, of York; two daughters, Cheri L. (Plymire) Swartzbaugh, and her husband Jeff E. Swartzbaugh, of Dover, and Lore M. (Plymire) Reed, and her husband Thomas H. Reed, Jr., of York; eight grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her brother, Joseph S. Lindemuth, and his wife Sandra "Sandy" (Snyder) Lindemuth.
A celebration of life will be held for family and close friends at the family's convenience.
