Jessie Hightower Dukes

Jessie Hightower Dukes, age 65, of York, died at 2:40 PM Sunday, December 29, 2024, at her residence. She was the wife of the late William J. Dukes.

Born October 15, 1959, in Barnwell, South Carolina, a daughter of the late Jessie and Victoria (Pope) Hightower, she retired from Altland House Catering.

Mrs. Dukes is survived by a son, Terry T. Hightower, and his wife Aaron, of York; two daughters, Shamela and Erika Hightower, both of York; eleven grandchildren, Martez Hightower, Shamil Hightower Sease, Cheyenne Hightower Gosa, Dominique Hightower, Deazhane Hightower, Terry Hightower, III, Camden Hightower, Keyoona Orr, Sinsere Taft, Jessica Taft, and Chynn Steele; nine great grandchildren, Dominique, Jr., A’nylah, Massiah, Aminah, Malia, Jaxon, Ky’ael, Seoni, and Khalessi; four sisters, Barbara Gober, of York, Brenda Mayes, of York, Minnie Cutheerston, of South Carolina, and Joan Holley, of York. She was also preceded in death by a granddaughter, Destinee Hightower; a brother, Anthony Hightower; and two sisters, Linda Holley and Michelle Milton.

Workinger Semmel Funeral Homes and Cremation, 849 East Market Street, York, is in charge of private funeral arrangements.
