Joel E. Writer, age 65, formerly of Lancaster, died at 3:00 PM Saturday, December 14, 2024, at Bradford Hills Nursing and Rehabilitation in Troy, Pennsylvania, after a lengthy illness.

Born July 30, 1959, in York, he was a son of Frances M. (Miller) Writer, of York Haven, and the late Ernest E. Writer.  Despite his many challenges in life, Joel accomplished a lot.  He grew up in Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church, in York Haven, and was a 1977 graduate of Northeastern High School.  He then attended several semesters at York College.  Later, he graduated from Johnstown Career and Technology Center, in Johnstown Pennsylvania.  He then studied Bible Classes at Lancaster Bible College, where he excelled. While living independently in Lancaster for many years, he attended Zion Church of Millersville.  He was also a member of the Free and Accepted Masons.

He loved to vacation with friends and family whenever and wherever he got the chance to go.  And, attending the “Creation” festival yearly with friends was a joy.

His longest, and favorite, job was at BJ’s Wholesale Club in Lancaster where he worked as a station manager.  He loved the opportunity to talk to people there.

In addition to his mother, Joel is survived by a sister, Judy M. Bupp, and her husband Larry, of York Haven; a brother, Jeff E. Writer, and his wife Ramona, of Manchester; as well as nieces and nephews.

Funeral services are scheduled for 11:00 AM Saturday, December 21, 2024, at Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church, 850 Pleasant Grove Road, York Haven, with his Pastor, Steve Cote, officiating.  Viewing will be 9-11:00 AM.  Burial will be in Pleasant Grove Cemetery.  William E Little Funeral Homes, Inc., 60 South Main Street, Manchester, is in charge of the arrangements.
