Josephine J. "Josi" Brindle

Josephine J. “Josi” Brindle, age 91, of York, died at 1:00 pm Friday Oct 1, 2021 at Hospice and Community Care in Mount Joy.  She was married to Sheldon R. Brindle for 72 years.

Born March 7, 1930 in York, a daughter of the late Charles A. and Lottie B (Thomas) Horn.  She was a graduate of William Penn Sr. High School, class of 1947, in which she played saxophone in the York High Band.  She also attended Thompson Business School. 

Josi retired from the York Hospital Social Services Department and had been a lifelong member of Trinity United Methodist Church.

In her retirement years she furthered her interest in the history of York by volunteering with the York Historical Society and her love of animals by volunteering at the SPCA.

She also enjoyed working at the Haven at Springwood for 5 years until her second retirement at age 80.

Loving her gospel music, she had a strong faith in God with a unique bright personality and an awesomely witty sense of humor that accompanied her flair for fashion and signature stylish glasses.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by a son, Thomas Brindle, and his wife Debbie, of Scranton; three daughters, Stephanie Folk, and her husband Thomas, of York, Valerie Sykes, and her husband Jack, of Avalon, New Jersey, and Stacia Boyer, and her husband James, of York; eleven grandchildren, four great grandchildren and two step great grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by a sister, Isabella Sakemiller.

Kuhner Associates Funeral Directors, Inc., 863 S George St, York is in charge of private funeral services.  Interment will be at Prospect Hill Cemetery.
