Kathleen M. Roth

Kathleen M. Blokzeyl Roth, 72, of Manchester Township, York, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Sunday, May 21, 2023. She passed peacefully with family. Kathleen was married to the late Michael E. Roth, sharing 40 years of marriage. She was also a beloved mother, grandmother, “Nana,” “Aunt Kate,” and friend to many.

Born on January 2, 1951 in Silver Spring, Maryland, she was the daughter of the late Henry J. and the late Lois M. (Schroll) Blokzeyl. Moving to York in her teens, she was a 1969 graduate of William Penn Senior High School. She went on to earn her Bachelor’s degree in English from Keuka College. She used her gift for communication while working for York Hospital, Borg Warner, and Heritage Valley Federal Credit Union. She also served as a Public Affairs Officer in the Pennsylvania Air National Guard with the 193rd Special Operations Group in Middletown, PA, achieving the rank of Major before retirement after 22 years.

Kathleen was preceded in death by her husband, Michael E. Roth on October 20, 2021. Kathleen is survived by her brother John Blokzeyl, a son, Joshua D. Roth, and his wife Gina, of York; a daughter, Elizabeth M. Mason, and her husband Brandon, of Hershey; five grandchildren, Sadie Mason, Adler Mason, Matthew Roth, Rhett Mason, and Willa Mason.

Kathleen’s faith in Jesus was an essential part of her life and she modeled the importance of worshiping God by any means necessary. She was quick to sense and acknowledge the moving of His Spirit, often the first to raise her hands or clap in praise.  Her faith allowed her to put that love of Jesus into action even as she battled personal health challenges and the unexpected loss of her husband. She was a fighter with a loving heart whose smile and eyes would light up a room. Both Michael and Kathleen’s greatest accomplishment here on earth will be the heritage of faith that they have passed down through multiple generations to their children and grandchildren. She attended Pathway Community Church in West York.

Funeral services are scheduled for 10:00 AM Tuesday, May 30, 2023, at Pathway Community Church, 1731 W Philadelphia St, York, with Pastor, James Dinger, officiating. Viewing will be 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM. Burial will be 1:00 PM Tuesday at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, with full military honors. Kuhner Associates Funeral Directors, Inc., 863 South George Street, York, is in charge of arrangements.

Guests are encouraged to wear blue in honor of Kathleen, as it was her favorite color. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Pathway Community Church, 1731 W Philadelphia St, York, PA 17404.
