Linda L. Ilgenfritz, age 72, of Spring Garden Township, York, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family at 11:18 AM Sunday, April 6, 2025, at Wellspan York Hospital. She was the wife of the late Grant E. Ilgenfritz to whom she shared nearly 50 years of marriage.
Born November 17, 1952, in York, she was the daughter of the late Harold W. and Margie E. (Davenport) Peters. She retired from Bon Ton Department Stores after more than 35 years of employment and was a member of Fourth United Methodist Church.
Mrs. Ilgenfritz is survived by a daughter, Tricia A. Frantz; a son, Bradley E. Ilgenfritz, and his wife Shelby, of York; five grandsons, Travis C. Frantz, Mitchell T. Frantz, Andrew P. Frantz, Preston E. Ilgenfritz, and Parker S. Ilgenfritz; a great grandson, Miles; and two sisters, Mary A. Kile, of Holiday, Florida, and Elizabeth Wright, of Payson, Utah; Mother in Law Helen Venable, former Son in Law Charles P. Frantz, many other beloved in laws, nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was also preceded in death by two brothers, Harold W. “Bud” Peters Jr., and Alphonsus “Sonny” Neiderer.
She was a very special lady that had a grace and sweetness about her that you couldn’t help but love her from the first time you met her and seen her big, beautiful smile.
She was the heart of every celebration and the loudest cheerleader for her children’s and grandchildren’s games, concerts, parades, and baton recitals. Her vibrant spirit lit up every room, and her love for family was unwavering. She went above and beyond to make every birthday and holiday special, constantly spoiling her grandkids and filling their lives with warmth and joy. She enjoyed cozy blankets, fuzzy socks, and eye masks, always finding comfort in the little things. Whether she was enjoying a Bon Ton lunch with her special coworkers, a trip to the casino or hair salon, a scoop of ice cream or candy, or listening to Elvis, she embraced life fully. Her joy for cooking, dancing, shopping, or simply being with her loved ones made every moment special. She leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and light that will never be forgotten.
The family would like to extend our heartfelt gratitude to Jim and Tammy Hartman for being the best neighbors and sharing over 30 years of unconditional love, friendship and compassionate care for Linda and Grant.
