Lois K. Dietz, age 97, of West Manchester Township, York, died Thursday, June 19, 2025, at Normandie Ridge. She was the wife of the late Donald L. Dietz.
Born February 17, 1928, in York, a daughter of the late Arthur S. and Alverta (Heilman) Kauffman, she worked for P.A. & S. Small Wholesale Company and Fulton, Mehring and Hauser Wholesale Company. After moving to Newark, Delaware, she worked for the State of Delaware for 26 years in the Department of Mental Health and the Department of Transportation from which she retired in 1983. After retirement she and Donald moved back to York in 1984. She was a member of Saint David’s Evangelical Congregational Church since 1987 and attended bible study groups for many years.
Mrs. Dietz is survived by 16 nieces and nephews and numerous great nieces and nephews and Goddaughter Beverly (Snyder) Perkins. She was also preceded in death by her stepdaughter, Beverly J. Dietz; three sisters, Gladys Altland, Genevieve Besecker, and Marilyn Kochenour; and four brothers, William, Harold, Clair, and Bernard Kauffman.
Lois lived a fulfilling Blessed life. She enjoyed socializing with friends over lunch and organizing visits with homebound friends. She was an avid knitter making scarves for those she loved. She had a flare for fashion enhancing every outfit with a matching hat. Prior to living at Normandie Ridge she enjoyed life at Wellington Greens Community with her Beloved neighbors and serving as an active Homeowners Association Board Member.
In later years Lois treasured Special times spent with her sibling’s families and especially her sister Marilyn’s family and the Dietz’s. Her Holidays were truly Blessed by the presence and spirit of the youngest family members.
A Memorial Service will be held at 10:30 AM Wednesday, July 9, 2025, at Saint David’s Evangelical and Congregational Church, 2411 Oakland Road, Dover, with Pastor Pat Teaford officiating. A luncheon with the family will immediately follow. Private burial will be in Mount Rose Cemetery. Kuhner Associates Funeral Directors, Inc., 863 South George Street, York, is in charge of arrangements.
