Lois J. Stauffer Obituary

Lois J. Stauffer, age 90, of York Township, York, died peacefully in her sleep at 2:20 PM Sunday, November 24, 2024, at Dallastown Nursing Center.  She was the wife of the late Charles J. Stauffer.

Born March 28, 1934, in Connellsville, she was the only child of the late Lytle D. and Ruth I. (Junk) Hixon.  She earned her Bachelor’s Degree in music from the University of Michigan and taught at West York School District for one year.  She then taught at York City School District, first in elementary school, and then in middle school.  In 1971, she and her husband founded Christmas Tree Hill, which has now grown to ten locations.

Mrs. Stauffer is survived by two sons, James R. Stauffer, and his wife Gina, of York, and Joseph L. Stauffer, and his wife Julie, of York; two grandchildren, Jason C. Stauffer, and his wife Becky, of Spring Grove, and Jessica L. (Stauffer) Hamer, of York; and four great grandchildren, Tony, Laney, Ben and Riley.

A private viewing and funeral service will be held next week, at Kuhner Associates Funeral Directors, Inc., 863 South George Street, York, with Pastor Luke Harbaugh officiating.  Burial will be in Salem Union Cemetery, Jacobus.  A Celebration of Life will be held early in 2025.
