Madelyn Maxine (Bruaw) Andrews passed on peacefully on January 16th, 2021, at the age of 96.
She was born in Philadelphia to John and Teressa (Cassel) Bruaw. After moving to York Haven as a child,
she graduated from Manchester High School in 1941 and later graduated from Thompson’s Business
School. She married John Lawrence Andrews in August 1946 and they shared 59 years of marriage until
his death.
A lover of travel and antiques, she was always searching for her next adventure. She recalled fond
memories of her childhood in Philadelphia and always had a new story to share. After a long career as a
Secretary Clerk with the US Postal Service, retirement was just the beginning of her next chapter. She
loved spending time with family, being at the beach, outings with her antique club and researching what
trip she wanted to take next. Her thirst for adventure took her to Alaska, Texas and everywhere in
between, including trips to Eqypt and Panama.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John Lawrence Andrews, her sister Ella Shatto, and her son,
John Lawrence Andrews II.
She is survived by her grandchildren, Molly (Andrews) Green and her husband, Kevin; Jonathan Andrews
and his wife Sara; their mother Debra; and two great-grandchildren, Catherine and Emily. Her memory is
held close by numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends who became family through the years.
A graveside service is scheduled for 2:00 PM Friday, January 22, 2021 at Cassel Cemetery with the Rev.
Beth A. Schlegel, STS, officiating. William E. Little Funeral Homes, Inc., 60 South Main Street,
Manchester, is in charge of arrangements.
Memorial contributions may be made SpirTtrust Lutheran, formerly Lutheran Social Services, 1050
