Marlyn Gene Flaharty, 80, passed away at his home in Red Lion, Pennsylvania on November 11, 2022.
Married on May 26, 1962, he was the husband of Loy DeLana (Master) Flaharty for more than 60 years. Marlyn was born on December 5, 1941 in Hallam, Pennsylvania to the late Earl H. and Annabel M. (Paules) Flaharty. In addition to his wife, he is survived by son Mark A. Flaharty and his fiancée, Michelle L. Aldinger of York, Pennsylvania; daughter, Cydney A. Whitmoyer and her husband, Jeffrey G. of Mohrsville, Pennsylvania; grandson, Evan A. Whitmoyer and his wife, Nicole of Fitchburg, Wisconsin; granddaughter, Lily A. Whitmoyer of Orlando, Florida; two sisters, Juanita Smith, wife of the late Kent Smith, and Loretta Leister and her husband, Calvin; and, brother Phillip and his wife, Alinda.
During his high school years, Marlyn was a member of the Future Farmers of America and the 4-H Baby Beef Club of York County. He began his agriculture business career at Spangler and Sprenkle of York (now Hoke Mills). His business, Service Feed & Supply, Inc. in Cardiff, Maryland and Delta, Pennsylvania began in 1969. He then sold that business to “The Mill” in 2004. Marlyn served on the Peach Bottom Township Zoning Board, was a member of the Southeastern School District School Board, and coached youth baseball in Delta.
One of his favorite hobbies was hunting in Canada, Colorado, Newfoundland and Wyoming for antelope, bear, elk, moose, mule deer and for white tail in Pennsylvania. Marlyn was an avid fan of the Baltimore Orioles and Penn State. He was honored in York County by numerous organizations for his support of agriculture over the years.
Marlyn and his family enjoyed 26 years at their cabin Stone Edge where they welcomed so many friends and family members for weekends and reunions.
The first viewing will be held from 12:00-2:00 Sunday, November 20, 2022 at Harkins Funeral Home, 600 Main Street, Delta. Additional viewings will be held from 4:00-7:00 PM Sunday, and 9:00-11:00 AM Monday at Kuhner Associates Funeral Directors, Inc., 863 South George Street, York, with funeral services beginning at 11:00 AM Monday.
