Martena L. Douglas

Martena L. Douglas, age 98, of York, died at 7:42 AM Sunday, April 4, 2021at
her residence. She was the wife of the late William M. Douglas and the late
William S. Axe.

Born March 10, 1923 in York, a daughter of the late Charles H. and Blanche E.
(Bosserman) Wallick, she was a 1941 graduate of William Penn High School
and was a Real Estate agent for Reihart Real Estate. Mrs. Douglas went back
to school at the age of 57 to become an LPN, her lifelong dream and retired
at the age of 78. She was a member of Yorkshire United Methodist Church for
80 years, OES Chapter #169, a life member of White Shrine of Jerusalem
Sychar #36 and J.M. Hyson Memorial Court #106 of the Amaranth (Red Lion).

Mrs. Douglas is survived by two daughters, Bonnie L. Bailey, and her
husband John, of York, and Carol E. Schlosser, and her husband William, of
Toledo, Ohio; a son, John H. Sprenkle III, and his wife Shelly, of York; five
grandchildren, Troy Schlosser, Lisa Keating, Shane Bailey, Allyson Gaitan, and
Ian Sprenkle; ten great grandchildren; a great great grandchild; and a sister,
Nancy Gibson. She is preceded in death by two brothers, Charles Wallick and
Fred Wallick.

Funeral services are scheduled for 11:00 AM, Monday April 12, 2021 at
Yorkshire United Methodist Church, 125 Edgewood Rd, York, PA 17402, with
The Rev. David Kominsky and The Rev. Dennis Hummel, officiating. Viewing
will be 9:30-11:00 AM. Burial will be in Susquehanna Memorial Gardens.
Workinger Semmel Funeral Homes and Cremation, 849 East Market Street,
York, is in charge of arrangements.
