Mary E. Capriotti, PhD, age 97, of Weirton, Ohio, died Friday, January 23, 2026, at Brightwood Nursing Home. She was the wife of the late John Capriotti.
Born July 28, 1928, in Steubenville, Ohio, the daughter of the late Joseph and Adalgisa (Silvidi) Sferrella, and she taught as a professor at Franciscan University Education Department for many years.
Dr. Capriotti is survived by her brother, Deacon Joseph V. Sferrella, of York.
Private burial will be in Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church Cemetery, in Abbottstown. Kuhner Associates Funeral Directors, Inc., is in charge of burial arrangements.
