Nancy L. Roberts, age 88, died peacefully in her sleep on April 30, 2026. She was preceded in death by her late husband and love of her life, H. Eugene Roberts 26 years ago.
Nancy is survived by her four sons, Michael E. Roberts, Mark A. Roberts (wife Lisa), Matthew J. Roberts (wife Tammy), and Mitchel D. Roberts, all residing in the York area. In addition to her four sons, she is survived by her grandchildren, Anthony, Sarah, Jessie, Jenna, Jeremy, and Tyler along with 13 great grandchildren. She also leaves behind two very beloved felines, Mandy and Mindy, who have been graciously adopted by a family member.
Nancy was born on July 25, 1937, in Indiana, PA. She was the daughter of Jessie Carpenter. Nancy and Gene moved to Mount Wolf, PA in the early 1960’s for work and to raise a family.
Nancy, or Aunt Nan, as she was affectionately known by some, retired from the Northeastern School District after many years of service as a secretary in the guidance office. Whether intentional or not, this position allowed her to keep a watchful eye on her four sons as they passed through those hallowed halls on their path to adulthood. Needless to say, her vigilance at this position did not result in four perfect angels, as there were occasional visits made to the principal’s office by her brood. The path to the principal’s office led directly past the guidance office, resulting in many stern looks from the Mother Hen!
Whenever time permitted, Nancy and Gene could be found down at the Delaware Seashore enjoying all the things the ocean and bay had to offer.
Nancy was especially fond of fishing, whether from shore or on a boat captained by her husband. Apparently, the fish were enamored with Nancy as well as she usually caught the most and largest fish!
In closing, let us say that we were so very fortunate to have both our Mom and Dad as parents to help, support and guide us through our formative years and beyond. They weren’t perfect, but they made one heck of an effort to raise us to be good, responsible adults and we are who we are because of those efforts. We love you Mom and always will.
